Summary

As part of Civitas’ ongoing asset management programme, and in alignment with our drive to improve the environmental footprint of our portfolio, we actively identify opportunities in which to improve the efficiency of our properties.

We build to a minimum of EPC B on all development properties and have a minimum requirement that all existing properties will meet, or can be upgraded to the standard of EPC C.

These improvement works may be in conjunction with other property renovation works, or they may be targeted retrofit programmes such as the installation of solar panels as shown in the case study of Birmingham. This resulted in cost savings of 49% to our partners and tenants, and a 71% CO2 reduction.

Further retrofit works undertaken across the portfolio include installation of air source heat pumps and cavity wall insulation.
